Layering for the cold months can be tricky. You have to be able to adjust for the temperamental weather and looking good is a must. Simplicity mixed with function is the goal. The striped white button-down may look All-American but I actually got this in a great store in Japan (see Japan blog).

I love the unique collar of this shirt and it has an excellent slim-fit. I use a gray and black knitted cardigan and my favorite tweed coat on top. You can always dress up the look with a pocket square as I did with this plaid one. Faded jeans and a pair of dark colored high-tops finish the effortless and versatile look.
