Salmon Salad Recipe

May 15th, 2010 in MMA Training by KennyFlorian.com

Wild salmon is one of the healthiest protein sources out there. It’s packed with the full spectrum of amino acids needed for muscle recovery and growth, and it’s also loaded with essential omega-3 fats. This type of heart healthy fat supports the integrity of the cardiovascular system and helps maintain efficient immune function. Athletes in particular benefit from wild salmon 2-3 times per week since omega-3s play a significant role in fighting off inflammation. Read More

UFC’s Garden Card Bountiful

May 2nd, 2010 in Updates by KennyFlorian.com

(BostonHerald) Long before a mixed martial arts regulation bill was passed in Massachusetts last November, Dana White promised a blockbuster show when the UFC finally made its way to Boston. With the UFC’s Aug. 28 date at TD Garden drawing closer, the card is beginning to take shape. As the fights have yet to be officially announced, White would only speak in general terms about the event in an interview last week.

“I promised I’d come with a strong card and I’m coming with a strong card,” the UFC president said. “I can’t (expletive) wait to get there.” Read More

Kenny Florian vs Gray Maynard ’signed’ for UFC 118 in Boston on Aug. 28

April 23rd, 2010 in Updates by KennyFlorian.com

(MMAMania.com) Two-time number one lightweight contender Kenny Florian today confirmed a previous Boston Herald report that he will indeed collide with Gray Maynard (9-0) at UFC 118, which is tentatively scheduled for the TD Garden in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 28.

“Ken-Flo” shared the good news on ESPNs “MMA Live” earlier this afternoon, saying he signed the dotted line to take on “The Bully,” who is perhaps the last remaining threat at 155-pounds.

Naturally, this makes the rematch between former UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn and newly-minted division kingpin Frankie Edgar all the more likely in the near future … perhaps in the night’s main event.

Question for Kenny: Kicking

April 20th, 2010 in Updates by KennyFlorian.com

Question from Neal: I know you were a collegiate soccer player. Was the transition from kicking a ball to kicking a person difficult? According to my instructor I continuously look like I am kicking a soccer ball and from 20+ yrs of that its becoming a challenge…any tips?

Kenny Reply: It depends on where and how you are kicking, but kicking a person requires a lot of practice and control. Obviously, kicking a bag like a banana bag is the best way to develop kicking for leg, body and head kicks. Different styles have different mechanics for kicking. Myself I prefer the Muay Thai style of kicking. Practice and mistakes eventually make perfect.
